About the role
This role is for a Plastics Process Engineer in a fast-growing Medical Device Contract Manufacturing Organization (CMO) in the USA, with revenues over $100 million and 10+ national locations.
You will take on the responsibility of enhancing process engineering capabilities with a strong emphasis on improving costs, quality, and delivery. Your role will be crucial in providing support to a manufacturing organization within the injection molding industry.
We are looking for an individual located in the North-East USA (with a relocation package available) to become a part of our team. In this role, you will not only mentor junior employees but also provide advanced manufacturing services to the world’s leading Medical Device OEMs.
Essential Functions
- Develop injection molding processes using proven scientific methodologies.
- Validate injection mould and work cell through IQ,OQ, PQ validation process.
- Document in detail, molding process, mould set up, work cell layout, and trouble shooting information for each job that is validated.
- Participate in project meetings in order to keep project on track until completion of validation into production.
- Support current production needs for trouble shooting and process improvement.
- Support and oversee new process equipment production.
- Support the raising and introduction of engineering change orders (ECOs).
- Establish robust, repeatable and reproducible process parameters
- Participate in activities pertaining to cycle time and process improvements.
- Implement statistical process analysis on new and existing products.
- Develop and maintain process documentation.
- Review processing methods.
- Ensures ISO and safety standards are adhered
- Leverages industry practices and applies to internal systems and processes
- Implements Lean Manufacturing and drives continuous improvement
- Responsible for maintaining a high level of motivation
- Plan and organize layouts for line changes due to volume changes or manpower reductions.
- Maintain contact with interdepartmental managers to provide feedback when dealing with process or material changes.
- Understand and execute all plant policies and procedures.
- Structure and implement area policies and procedures to ensure safe and efficient operation of the company and its team members.
- Develop and maintain positive team member relations centred on mutual trust, dignity, respect, fairness, consistency, two-way communication, teamwork, and harmony.
Qualifications
- EDUCATION: Trade school graduate or associates degree or a combination of experience and education, Bachelor’s Degree in Plastics Engineering preferred.
- Knowledge of Scientific Molding principals.
- Medical device manufacturing experience.
- Experience: 2-7 years experience in an injection molding operation.
- Experience in a 24/7 manufacturing/molding operation.
- Proven success in maintaining positive employee relations.
- OTHER MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess good written and verbal communication skills with our internal and external customers. Basic knowledge of equipment. Advanced ability to read prints and use measuring equipment along with advanced math skills.
